Walkability

Hello

I know it has been a very long time but I think of here often. Life just seems to speed by and all too often I am climbing into bed at the end of a day getting ready for a new one to materialise.

I just wanted to leave you with a video that I saw a little while ago but has really stuck with me. Being car-free was so freeing when we lived in Berlin.

Try it out. Leave a comment as I would love to know.

My suburb's score is 58.

Take care.

  1. What an excellent TED talk, thanks for the link! My suburb's walk score is 82, which is great. I don't drive by choice, and can't wait for the day that car culture changes...when petrol becomes too expensive. I don't like the expectation that everyone will drive, but I might actually learn when there are less cars on the road, just for emergencies. I know I'd be much heavier if I didn't walk everywhere!

    1. He came and spoke in Perth earlier in the year. Wish I had gone and seen him.
82 is a great score. Being car free is such a freeing feeling. When we didn't have one, I found we were much more organised as we really had to plan what we needed and where we were going. It is all too easy to just jump in the car for little trips.
      Thanks for saying hello.

  4. My walkability score is 53 - apparently some errands can be conducted by foot where I live.
That said, I'd love to know how they work it out since I live in walking distance from: two major supermarkets, a shoe shop, an optometrist, fast food places, a post office, a bank, two chemists, multiple parks, three primary schools, a police station, a dentist and multiple doctors.
    What errands are left?!

    1. Hi, Christine. Doesn't sound like much left to me either. That's pretty much all you would need. It's great that you can do so much close to home. Take care.
