Holiday Cleaning

Cleaning is something that doesn't usually excite me. It doesn't matter how far down that to-do list I get, there are always a number of jobs that are ready to replace those that have been crossed-off.

Today I decided to break open the orange and vinegar cleaner that I started a few weeks ago. I have been turning the jar and watching the vinegar change colour so figured I should check out how well it worked.

I thought I would jump into the deep end and start with the shower floor. With a bit of a scrub and a wipe, it seemed to work really well. The best part being that there was no over-powering smell that usually means I need to evacuate the bathroom. There was a hint of orange but not too strong.

I will certainly be making this again.

We are heading off for a few days to catch up with family, so I am spending the day cleaning. I really don't understand why I am happy to live amongst half finished housework on a daily basis but as soon as we go away, and are not actually going to be living in the house, I feel this need to have everything spotless.

I am hoping to be able to get online on Sunday and draw the winner of the Environmental Toothbrush giveaway, otherwise it will be one of the first jobs when I get back (seeing as all of the housework will have been done.)

Take care

P.S. Just realised that it is a year ago today that we headed off on our big adventure and six months to the day since our return. Time is flying.

  1. Have a great time with your family. I am the same with cleaning before I go away. I think it is because I know I will be tired when I get back.

    1. Should be exciting. Small spanner been thrown in the works with flights but should sort itself tomorrow.
I have images on myself mopping the floor at midnight tonight. Thankfully we are only taking 2 changes of clothing each so there wont be much washing to do.

  3. Hmmm, I think I might need to give the cleaner a go too. I'll let you know how I go. (also, thanks to you, it's been well over a year of using bicarb for my hair and am still really happy with it.)

Now, can it be really 6 months since you got back?!!

    1. I'm still using the bi-carb too. I buy it in bulk now because I use it for so many things.

6 months, I know. Well I can't believe that your little one is nearly 5 months old. I hope it is all going well for your family of 5.

  4. I also use this as a deodorant. I have a spray bottle in the toilet as well. Works a treat for lots of things.

    1. I haven't got around to making my own deodorant yet. It is in the list though.
I love the smell of this mix. It is orangey but not overpowering.

  5. Where do you buy it in bulk?

    1. I buy the bi carb in bulk at Weigh and Pay in Woodvale. If my memory serves me correctly (fingers crossed) it is between $2 and $3 a kilo. If you take a big container with you they will weigh that first, let you fill it, then take the weight off your purchase.

  6. I posted this one to Facebook a little while ago as I am keen to try it (and share it!). We often use vinegar but a little while ago we got given a HEAP of oranges too sour for much but juice (and then sweetened, which I don't usually do). I had all the skins and no idea what to do with them...
    now I do :) Cheers!
